Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 begins filming with new showrunner Anna Ouyang Moench, Talia Ryder starring opposite Mark Eydelshteyn.

AceShowbiz - After a pause in production and a change in leadership, Mr. & Mrs. Smith has officially started filming its second season for Prime Video.
The new season is being led by showrunner and writer Anna Ouyang Moench, known for her work on Beef and Severance. Moench took over the role in January, replacing co-creator and first-season showrunner Francesca Sloane, who signed an overall deal with HBO in September 2025. Production on season two was briefly paused following these changes.
Talia Ryder, recognized for her roles in Honey Don't! and West Side Story, will star opposite Mark Eydelshteyn in season two. Ryder replaces Sophie Thatcher, who was originally cast as Mrs. Smith but faced availability challenges after Moench's hiring.
Maya Erskine, who acted alongside co-creator Donald Glover in the first season, joins the production team as an executive producer this season. Other executive producers include Moench, Glover, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Stephen Glover, Anthony Katagas, and Fam Udeorji.
While specific story details for the second season remain under wraps, the plot is expected to follow a similar premise to season one. The original storyline featured Glover and Erskine’s characters being recruited by a secret spy agency, taking on new identities, and executing missions around the globe. The series itself is loosely inspired by the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Season two’s production has shifted its primary location from New York to Los Angeles. The show secured a $22.4 million tax credit from the California Film Commission in March 2025 to support filming within the state.
The news of Talia Ryder joining the cast was first reported by Variety, signaling a promising new chapter for Mr. & Mrs. Smith on Prime Video as it continues to evolve with fresh talent and leadership.
