Will Gen V get a Season 3? Show creator Eric Kripke says it depends entirely on Season 2 viewership. Watch now on Prime Video to save the series.

AceShowbiz - Gen V, the spinoff of the popular series The Boys, faces an uncertain future beyond its second season as its continuation depends heavily on audience engagement. Show creator Eric Kripke shared in October 2025 with TheWrap that while there is a plan and excitement for a third season, it ultimately comes down to whether enough viewers tune in to justify it.
"We have a plan for Gen V season 3, and we're psyched about it, but we need enough viewers to watch season 2 to justify season 3," Kripke explained. He urged fans to watch the show promptly on Prime Video, emphasizing the importance of current viewership numbers. "Now's the time that they're paying attention to the numbers. So don't watch even a year from now. Turn on Prime and watch it now. If enough people watch then we'll get a season 3."
The same cautious optimism applies to another spinoff in the The Boys universe, Vought Rising, which is scheduled to premiere in 2026. Kripke mentioned plans for a potential second season of that series as well, stating, "We have plans for a season 2, if we can. They've been nothing but supportive, and they're giving us our opportunities. But it's a business and we also have to deliver. So hopefully the audience shows up."
Prime Video officially announced in July 2024 that Jensen Ackles would return as Soldier Boy in Vought Rising, a spinoff described as a twisted murder mystery. This follows the character's dramatic exit from the original series, where he was literally put on ice.
Meanwhile, Gen V season 2 premiered in September 2025, with its finale airing the next month. That finale set the stage for The Boys fifth and final season, which debuted in April 2026. The second season closed with several key characters — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Sam (Asa Germann), and Cate (Maddie Phillips) — fleeing Godolkin University as fugitives and joining a resistance movement against Homelander (Antony Starr), led by Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the A-Team (Jessie T. Usher).
Though some characters from Gen V have been mentioned during the premiere episodes of The Boys season 5, they have yet to make an on-screen appearance. Starlight references Marie and her group, hinting at ongoing connections between the two series.
Season 2 of Gen V also addresses the fate of Andre, portrayed by Chance Perdomo, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024. Showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that the cast and crew had to rethink their plans just a week before shooting due to Perdomo's sudden passing. He expressed sympathy for the actor's loved ones and emphasized how difficult the loss was for everyone involved.
Within the show, Andre's character died from a stroke while using his powers in an escape attempt from the Elmira rehabilitation center, a storyline that was incorporated to honor Perdomo's memory.
As of now, Prime Video has not officially confirmed a third season of Gen V. The future of the spinoff hinges on whether the audience continues to support it by watching season 2 promptly and in significant numbers. The network and creators remain hopeful but pragmatic, acknowledging the competitive nature of streaming content and the importance of meeting viewership expectations.
In summary, while The Boys is set to conclude in 2026 after its fifth season, the fate of its spinoff Gen V remains tied to how well season 2 performs. Fans of the franchise are encouraged to watch the latest episodes on Prime Video soon to help secure the show's continuation. Similarly, the upcoming Vought Rising series is poised to expand the The Boys universe, with its own future seasons dependent on audience reception.
