AceShowbiz - Jada Pinkett Smith is requesting a court to dismiss a lawsuit filed against her by Bilaal Salaam, a former friend of her husband, Will Smith. The lawsuit alleges that ongoing disputes with Pinkett Smith caused him significant emotional distress.
According to the legal complaint, Salaam claims that Pinkett Smith triggered severe anxiety, depression, and weight gain after people close to the Smith family allegedly threatened him in connection with a memoir he is writing. He is pursuing $3 million in damages. Furthermore, Salaam states he temporarily left the United States because he feared for his personal safety. The filing also notes that the conflict harmed Salaam's romantic relationship and led to persistent sleeplessness and fear.
This lawsuit follows a previous attempt by Salaam to obtain a restraining order against Pinkett Smith, which was denied by a judge who ruled there was insufficient evidence to support his claims.
Pinkett Smith categorically denies all allegations. In her court documents, she argues that Salaam has failed to provide proof linking her to the distress he reports. She states there is no evidence that she was involved in any threats, his decision to leave the country, or the breakdown of his relationship.
She further contends that Salaam’s claims are "false, uncorroborated," and part of an "ongoing public campaign of harassment" against her family. According to TMZ, Salaam also accused Pinkett Smith of targeting him after he declined to publicly support Will Smith during the backlash following the 2022 Oscars ceremony.
The legal dispute remains active, with Pinkett Smith seeking to have the case dismissed. Meanwhile, Salaam maintains his allegations and continues to pursue the lawsuit for the alleged emotional and personal harm he claims to have suffered.
