The distribution of the film’s theatrical revival is a collaboration between Fathom Entertainment and Cineverse, aiming to bring both longtime fans and new audiences back to this beloved masterpiece.
Yolanda Macias, Cineverse’s chief motion pictures officer, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Fathom for this event, noting that the distributor has a proven track record of success in releasing special anniversary screenings. The story of Pan's Labyrinth centers on a young girl who escapes into a mysterious labyrinth while fleeing her oppressive stepfather during the Spanish Civil War. Guillermo del Toro not only directed the film but also wrote the screenplay and produced it alongside Bertha Navarro, Alfonso Cuarón, Frida Torresblanco, and Álvaro Augustin.
Following the success of Pan's Labyrinth, del Toro continued to build an impressive filmography that includes titles such as Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water, Pinocchio, and Frankenstein. He has also been active in television, creating shows like The Strain, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, and Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. Additionally, he co-wrote the scripts for all three of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films after initially signing on as their director.
Despite persistent fan interest, a sequel to Pan's Labyrinth has never materialized. However, the upcoming theatrical re-release offers an opportunity to revisit this landmark film that continues to stand as one of del Toro’s finest achievements. Thanks to the efforts of Fathom and Cineverse, audiences will once again be able to immerse themselves in the dark and enchanting world of Pan's Labyrinth beginning October 9, 2026.
