Yes postpones European Fragile tour as guitarist Steve Howe undergoes surgery. Rescheduled dates coming soon. Hold your tickets.
- April 4, 2026
AceShowbiz - The progressive rock band Yes has announced a postponement of their upcoming 11-date European Fragile tour to allow guitarist Steve Howe to undergo an essential surgical procedure that requires a period of recovery.
In an official statement, the band emphasized that the decision was made to ensure Howe can fully recover and return to performing at his best for fans. The group is actively working to reschedule the UK and European dates, with detailed announcements expected after Easter. Fans are advised to keep their tickets, which will remain valid for the rescheduled shows. Meanwhile, other tour dates planned for later in 2026 are set to continue as scheduled.
The Fragile tour was originally slated to begin on April 22 in Glasgow and was designed to feature a complete live rendition of the band’s acclaimed 1971 album Fragile. The North American leg of the tour last year showcased fan favorites including "Soon," "Tempus Fugit," "Wonderous Stories," and "Starship Troopers."
At present, no specific dates have been announced for the postponed European shows. Howe remains the sole member from the original Fragile lineup still performing with Yes. The current lineup includes vocalist Jon Davison, bassist Billy Sherwood, drummer Jay Schellen, and keyboardist Geoff Downes. Downes, known for his work with The Buggles, briefly joined Yes during the 1980 Drama era and officially rejoined the band in 2011.
Aside from their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, Howe has not performed with original lead singer Jon Anderson since 2004. Despite Anderson’s interest in a reunion, Howe has consistently ruled out the possibility, explaining that Yes is about people who enjoy working together harmoniously and that their mutual compatibility and intentions have diverged over time.
This postponement highlights the band’s commitment to delivering high-quality performances while prioritizing the health and well-being of its members. Fans eagerly await new dates and hope for a swift recovery for Howe.
