AceShowbiz - The iconic English progressive rock band Yes has announced a postponement of their upcoming European tour, originally scheduled to start in April 2026. The decision comes as guitarist Steve Howe prepares to undergo an essential operation requiring time for recovery.
On Thursday, April 2, Yes took to social media to inform fans that the 11-date Fragile tour across the UK and Europe, set to begin April 22 at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in Scotland, would be delayed. The band explained that this pause is necessary to ensure Howe can return to performing in full health and meet fans’ expectations for the shows.
Yes stated on Instagram, "The upcoming YES 'Fragile' UK and EU Tour, due to commence on 22nd April, has had to be postponed as guitarist Steve Howe requires an essential operation that requires recovery time." They emphasized that the choice prioritizes Howe’s well-being and the quality of the live performances.
The European leg was to feature a full live rendition of the band’s 1971 album Fragile, following a North American tour that took place earlier in 2025. The band assured fans they are actively working to reschedule shows and will announce new dates after the Easter holiday. They also urged ticket holders to retain their passes, which will remain valid for the postponed concerts.
In their announcement, Yes added, "Tour dates currently being arranged for later in 2026 will proceed as planned. Steve Howe and YES would like to thank their UK fans and hope for their continued support at this time."
Fragile, released in November 1971, is the group’s fourth studio album and was their most successful release up to that point. It came after their 1971 album The Yes Album, which reached No. 40 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fragile peaked at No. 4, a position only surpassed the following year by Close to the Edge.
Of the original lineup that created Fragile, only Howe remains an active member of Yes. Other founding members have since departed: drummer Bill Bruford left in 1992, vocalist Jon Anderson and keyboardist Rick Wakeman exited in 2004, and bassist Chris Squire remained until his passing in 2015.
This postponement highlights the band’s commitment to delivering high-quality live performances and supporting one of its pivotal members during a critical health period. Fans can expect further updates on rescheduled dates following the Easter break.
