Judge dismisses most of Blake Lively's harassment claims against Justin Baldoni; a few retaliation claims proceed to trial.

AceShowbiz - Blake Lively's sexual harassment claims against Justin Baldoni have been largely dismissed by Judge Lewis J. Liman of the Federal District Court in Manhattan ahead of their scheduled trial. In a significant ruling, Judge Liman dismissed 10 of the 13 harassment allegations, stating that many of the claims did not meet the necessary legal standards.
The judge emphasized the boundaries of acceptable responses in harassment cases, noting, "There are limits to the response that the accused can make in response to claims of harassment. There comes a point where the accused stops simply defending him or herself and starts taking action that a reasonable jury could view as retaliation for the fact that the accuser had the temerity to make the accusations." While most sexual harassment claims were dismissed, a few of Lively’s allegations remain under retaliation claims.
This ruling is not the first legal setback in the ongoing dispute surrounding the project It Ends With Us. In 2025, Justin Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively was also dismissed, further narrowing the legal battles between the two parties.
Alexandra Shapiro and Jonathan Bach, attorneys representing Baldoni, expressed appreciation for the court’s thorough examination of the case. They told NBC News, "These were very serious allegations, and we are grateful to the Court for its careful review of the facts, law and voluminous evidence that was provided. What's left is a significantly narrowed case, and we look forward to presenting our defense to the remaining claims in court."
Meanwhile, Sigrid McCawley, a member of Lively’s legal team, reaffirmed the focus of their case. She said, "This case has always been and will remain focused on the devastating retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively's reputation because she stood up for safety on the set and that is the case that is going to trial."
The trial is set to begin on May 18, where the remaining retaliation claims will be addressed in court. This development marks a critical phase in the ongoing legal conflict between these two high-profile figures connected to the It Ends With Us project.
