Speaking in an interview with Parade magazine, coinciding with the release of her memoir Phases, the Grammy-winning singer described the situation as complex and emphasized her need to protect her own peace.

Brandy Norwood shared, "There is distance right now. There are a few things that he's been doing in the public eye that I don't condone, and I just feel like loving him from afar right now is best for me and my peace." Despite this separation, she was clear that her love and connection with her brother remain strong and are deeply reflected in her new book.

The singer, now 47, stressed that the emotional distance does not lessen her care for Ray J. She added, "My life with Ray and my connection with him is all throughout the book, and my love for him never wavers."

This revelation comes after a period during which Ray J publicly discussed tension within their family. In recent years, the reality star and entrepreneur expressed feeling "exiled" and acknowledged that his relationship with Brandy Norwood was not as close as it once had been. However, there were signs of reconciliation when he joined her onstage during her The Boy Is Mine Tour featuring Monica late last year.

More recently, Ray J attracted media attention after he threatened rappers Shyne and Ma$e. The conflict arose after they both claimed to have dated Brandy Norwood simultaneously in the 1990s.
