AceShowbiz - Netflix is assembling a notable cast for its intense remake of the psychological drama Time Out, originally a 2001 French film. The new adaptation will feature Adam Sandler, Willem Dafoe, Gaby Hoffmann, F. Murray Abraham, Steve Zahn, and Adam Horovitz, under the direction of Scott Cooper.
Time Out is a remake of the French film L'Emploi du temps, directed by Laurent Cantet. The story follows Vincent, a man recently fired from his job who is unwilling to disclose this to his family. Instead, he concocts an elaborate web of lies, including a fake investment scheme, to conceal his unemployment. As the deception grows, it threatens his relationships and mental stability, bringing him to a breaking point.
Director Scott Cooper, known for films like Crazy Heart and Black Mass, expressed a long-standing interest in revisiting Cantet’s film. He said, "I first encountered Laurent Cantet's film in 2001, and it's lived with me ever since. I've been thinking about revisiting it for years, but now felt like the right moment - we're living in a time where questions of identity, work, and self-worth have become impossible to ignore."
Adam Sandler will portray Vincent, the central character struggling to maintain appearances despite losing his job. Joining him is Willem Dafoe. Gaby Hoffmann, who recently collaborated with Cooper on the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, will also star.
The cast also includes F. Murray Abraham, Steve Zahn, and Adam Horovitz.
Written, directed, and produced by Scott Cooper, the remake of Time Out is anticipated to explore the pressures of contemporary life and the fragile nature of self-worth in uncertain economic times.
