AceShowbiz - The Linkin Park concert scheduled for Adelaide on March 12 has been cancelled due to an illness affecting one of the band members. This announcement came as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting the nu-metal group’s only South Australian show on their current Australasian tour.
Linkin Park shared the news through an Instagram Stories statement, explaining the decision as extremely difficult but necessary. The band emphasized that cancelling a show is never taken lightly and expressed deep regret for disappointing fans who planned to attend the Adelaide Entertainment Centre performance.
"We have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel tonight's show due to an illness in the band," the statement read, adding that the show will not be rescheduled. Linkin Park also described the Australian tour as incredible so far, underscoring their devastation at not being able to perform in Adelaide.
The cancellation affects the lone South Australian stop on the band’s eight-date Australasian tour, which continues with two nights at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena starting March 14, and concludes on March 18 at Auckland’s Spark Arena in New Zealand. The tour is produced by Live Nation.
This current run marks Linkin Park's first tour in Australia and New Zealand in over a decade, with their previous visit dating back 13 years during the now-defunct 2013 Soundwave Festival. Although the band toured in support of all albums up to 2012’s Living Things, Australia was not included in their 2014 The Hunting Party tour or the One More Light world tour prior to the passing of vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017.
The ongoing Australasian dates are part of the band’s From Zero World Tour, which began in September 2024 and features new lead vocalist Emily Armstrong alongside original members Mike Shinoda, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Colin Brittain. Support for the Australian shows comes from Sydney-based rock band POLARIS, while New Zealand artist VANA, raised in Anaheim, California, will open the Auckland performance.
Linkin Park’s decision to cancel the Adelaide concert reflects their commitment to the health and safety of the band and fans alike, as well as the challenges faced during live touring. Fans attending upcoming shows can look forward to performances in Sydney and Auckland despite this setback.
