AceShowbiz - The legendary metal band Metallica is set to extend their upcoming residency at the cutting-edge Sphere venue in Las Vegas. Following the announcement of their Life Burns Faster residency last week, the group revealed on March 2 that six additional shows will be added due to overwhelming fan demand.
Metallica originally planned an eight-show run this fall, with performances scheduled on October 1 & 3, 15 & 17, 22 & 24, and 29 & 31. These dates mark the continuation of their No Repeat Weekend tradition, which debuted during their 2023 M72 world tour. Fans attending on Thursdays and Saturdays can expect unique setlists with no repeated songs across those shows.
The new six shows have yet to be formally scheduled, but the band confirmed that a fan club presale will begin on Wednesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. ET. Those holding Legacy or Fifth Member codes will be able to access the presale for these added dates.
Drummer Lars Ulrich shared his enthusiasm about the residency, recalling the moment he witnessed U2’s Sphere show in 2023. "About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in '23, I thought 'We have to do this, it's completely uncharted territory!'" he said. Ulrich emphasized that this residency offers the band a fresh opportunity to redefine their live fan engagement, expressing excitement for what they plan to deliver in six months’ time.
Metallica will become the first hard rock and metal act to perform at the Sphere, joining a lineup of previous residencies by artists and groups such as U2, Phish, Dead & Company, the Eagles, and the Backstreet Boys. Their upcoming shows promise to bring a new level of innovation to the venue’s unique capabilities.
The Life Burns Faster residency at the Sphere represents a significant milestone for Metallica, combining their powerful live performances with the venue’s state-of-the-art technology. With the addition of six more shows, fans will have even more opportunities to experience this groundbreaking concert series firsthand.
