AceShowbiz - Metallica is set to release an expansive reissue of their seventh studio album, ReLoad, titled Reload (Remastered) on June 26, 2024. This deluxe edition will be issued through the band’s own Blackened Recordings label, commemorating the original 1997 release with a variety of formats designed to satisfy collectors and longtime fans alike.

The reissue will be available as a 2-LP vinyl set, a 3-CD expanded edition, standard CD, cassette, and digital downloads. However, the centerpiece offering is a lavish deluxe box set that includes an impressive 15 CDs and four DVDs packed with previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, and live performances. The box also features the album on an 180-gram double LP and CD, along with a 7? single of "The Memory Remains."

Reload (Remastered) deluxe fans will receive three live LPs capturing performances from the era, plus an MP3 download card containing all the audio content. The box set is filled with exclusive memorabilia, including three tour laminates, posters, pins, stickers, guitar picks, lyric sheets, and a 128-page hardcover book showcasing never-before-seen photos from the album’s sessions and tours.

Preorders for the deluxe edition come with instant gratification tracks of "The Memory Remains," featuring the remastered original, an instrumental mix, the Take 18 Floor Take, and a live version recorded in Brisbane. Additionally, a live rendition of the song from Philadelphia dated November 11, 1997, is currently available to listen to ahead of the full release.

The album Reload originally debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and achieved quadruple platinum status. This deluxe reissue is described as "bursting" with exclusive material, including rare on-air and television performances, and the Live at Ministry of Sound ’97 triple live album pressed on 140g vinyl. Fans will also find unreleased riff collections and a set of 13 unique Rorschach Test cards included in the package.

Coinciding with the reissue, Metallica has launched the #GetTheReLoadOut fan cover competition, now entering its second round. Last year’s contest saw thousands of fans submit musical covers of tracks from the Load album. This year’s competition expands to include not only musical covers but also performance and visual artists. Each week will spotlight a different song from ReLoad, culminating in two grand prize winners who will each receive an autographed Reload Remastered Limited Edition deluxe box set.

ReLoad served as a follow-up to the 1996 album Load, continuing the band’s exploration beyond traditional thrash metal. The album incorporated unique instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy and violin on tracks like "Low Man’s Lyric" and featured a guest vocal appearance by Marianne Faithfull on "The Memory Remains"—the band’s first-ever collaboration with an outside vocalist. The album also included "The Unforgiven II," a sequel to their 1991 hit "The Unforgiven."
