AceShowbiz - Hilary Duff has achieved a major milestone as her latest album, Luck… Or Something, debuts at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Released through Atlantic/Warner, this marks Duff’s first chart-topping album in Australia.
Luck… Or Something secured the top position on the Australian albums list dated Friday, Feb. 27. This achievement represents Duff’s fourth top 10 entry on the ARIA Albums Chart, following earlier successes with her self-titled 2004 album, which peaked at No. 6; 2005’s Most Wanted, reaching No. 3; and 2015’s Breathe In Breathe Out, which climbed to No. 4. The new album also stands out as the best-selling vinyl release in Australia during the past week, according to ARIA reports.
The strong debut of Hilary Duff comes as other artists experience shifts in their chart positions. Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving (Universal), which previously held the No. 1 spot, slips to No. 2. Meanwhile, Queensland singer-songwriter Tom Busby makes a notable entrance at No. 3 with his independently released debut solo effort, Rockhampton Hangover. Busby, known for his work in the blues and roots duo Busby Marou, previously saw chart-topping success with the group’s 2017 album Postcards From The Shell House, which also reached No. 1, alongside other top 5 albums including Farewell Fitzroy (2013) and The Great Divide (2019).
Also new to the ARIA Albums Chart is Mumford & Sons with their sixth studio album, Prizefighter (Island/Universal), entering at No. 5. This continues the band’s streak of six consecutive top 10 studio albums, a run that includes the No. 1 debut of their 2009 album Sigh No More.
Meg Mac, the acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, extends her record of top 10 entries to four with her album It’s My Party (EMI), debuting at No. 6. Her previous albums have enjoyed significant chart success, including a No. 2 peak with 2017’s Love Blows, a No. 9 spot with 2019’s Hope, and a week at No. 1 with 2022’s Matter Of Time.
Other notable entries in the ARIA Top 50 include Baby Keem at No. 13 with Ca$ino (Columbia/Sony), Megan Moroney at No. 20 with Cloud 9 (Columbia/Sony), and Sydney artists Above, Below and Maya-A placing at No. 35 and No. 46 respectively with their independent and Sony releases.
On the singles chart, Olivia Dean maintains a rare dominance with three tracks occupying the top three positions. Her song “Man I Need” remains steady at No. 1, while her collaboration with Sam Fender, “Rein Me In,” climbs to a new peak at No. 2. Meanwhile, “So Easy (To Fall In Love)” holds at No. 3. This impressive feat places Dean among an elite group of artists to simultaneously claim the top three spots on the singles chart, joining the ranks of legendary acts like The Beatles and Ed Sheeran.
