AceShowbiz - Kid Rock is quoting the late Kobe Bryant as he prepares for Super Bowl Sunday, the day he will headline Turning Point USA’s controversial “halftime show” in opposition to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
On February 5, in a post on X, Kid Rock shared a quote attributed to the basketball icon that highlights the importance of handling criticism. The quote, labeled “Mamba Mentality,” reads, “Learn to love the hate. Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it.” It continues, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone should have one about you. Haters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones.”
The hip-hop and country artist was confirmed as part of Turning Point’s “All-American Halftime Show” lineup on February 2, joining other artists like Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, and Gabby Barrett. The conservative organization previously announced plans in October to host the alternative event at the same time as Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 8, in protest of a Spanish-speaking artist headlining the prestigious slot.
Turning Point has promised that the alternative show will feature “anything in English” and will celebrate “faith, family, and freedom.” This counter-programming came in response to the announcement in September that Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican rapper, would perform at the Super Bowl, which sparked controversy among some conservatives who labeled him “anti-ICE.” This was despite the fact that Bad Bunny had not publicly stated any opposition to the immigration enforcement agency, only expressing concerns about ICE potentially targeting his Latino audience during U.S. tour dates.
Just a week before the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny won the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album for *Debí Tirar Más Fotos*. During his acceptance speech on February 1, he made his stance clear, stating, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say ICE out! We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans … The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.”
In contrast, Kid Rock has been a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and has often made headlines for his controversial views. As the Super Bowl approaches, the anticipation surrounding both performances continues to grow, with fans eager to see how each artist will respond to the ongoing dialogue about identity, music, and cultural representation.
