Vanessa Kirby promises her upcoming portrayal of Sue Storm will be quite different from the previous one, emphasizing that her character 'wasn't just the stereotype of a goody, sweet mother.'

AceShowbiz - Marvel Studios is setting a new tone with their upcoming movie, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps". Unlike previous "Fantastic Four" films that centered around the notorious Doctor Doom, this installment will shift its focus to new antagonists.

Vanessa Kirby, who portrays Susan Storm also known as the Invisible Woman, recently revealed intriguing insights about her character during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She hinted at the villainous side of her character in the new movie.

"[Director] Matt [Shakman] and I were really aware that there hasn't really been a mother with a baby in these superhero archetypes women have been getting," Kirby said. "One of the things I love most from Sue's history is when she becomes Malice, and all her dark stuff comes out."

"I was obsessed with that chapter of her life. So I wanted to make sure that there were tones of Malice in there with her, that she wasn't just the stereotype of a goody, sweet mother."

"I've always been really interested in the mess of femininity, and how can you be both? How can you be all the things? Not just the tough, invincible, powerful woman, but also a mother who gives birth, which is itself a superhero act. I love that these characters are real humans in a messy family who argue and try to work it out and get things wrong."

While the film is set to introduce villainous Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and the Silver Surfer, portrayed by Julia Garner, Kirby's remarks hint that there could be room for another villain: Malice.

Matriarchal villains in MCU is not new. Driven by her desire to reunite with her children, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, transformed into a formidable antagonist in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness".

If Malice does enter the MCU, it will continue this trend of exploring multifaceted female villains who are motivated by deeply personal, sometimes sympathetic reasons.

The "Fantastic Four: First Steps" is not just poised to deliver thrilling superhero action but also aims to provide a richer, more emotionally complex narrative. Fans can look forward to experiencing this fresh take when the film hits theaters on July 25.
