AceShowbiz - Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones' legendary frontman, is set to tie the knot with Melanie Hamrick, a retired ballerina and choreographer. The bride-to-be confirmed their engagement to the French publication Paris Match.

The couple's engagement has been secretive. Hamrick revealed they had been engaged for about "two or three years" now. However, they haven't set a wedding date just yet as she said, "Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not," adding that they are incredibly happy in their current life and cautious about altering it.

Their love story began back in 2014 when Jagger was on tour in Japan with the Rolling Stones and Hamrick was performing with the American Ballet Theatre. Despite the instant connection, Hamrick described it as a modest spark rather than an overwhelming whirlwind romance.

They only began dating months after their initial meeting when Jagger invited Hamrick to join him during a concert tour in Zurich. In 2023, rumors swirled about their engagement after she was seen rocking a diamond ring on her finger.

The brunette dancer played down the rumors back then, "In my mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring."

Hamrick, who hails from Williamsburg, Virginia, was a scholarship student at the Kirov Academy of Ballet. She spent 15 years with the American Ballet Theatre, where she performed in renowned productions like "Apollo," "The Nutcracker," and "Balanchine's Theme and Variations."

She retired in 2019, finding it challenging to balance the demanding schedule with her new role as a mother and partner. Hamrick humorously shared, "I feel like superwoman some days, and other days I feel like I'm head above water just phoning in being a dancer."

The couple shares an 8-year-old son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, born in December 2016. Deveraux's birth ushered a new perspective in Hamrick's life, transforming her "simple life" with little experience around children into a life surrounded by energy and motherhood chaos.

Hamrick has continued her creativity post-retirement, co-founding Live Arts Global, a nonprofit organization aimed at making classical ballet accessible and employing out-of-work artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hamrick also partnered with Jagger on a choreographed ballet production, "Porte Rouge," set to Rolling Stones' music.

Despite the couple's significant 44-year age difference, Hamrick has always expressed that others' opinions on their relationship are of little consequence. Speaking to The Times, she said, "They can mind their own business."

"Everyone's going to have their opinion. If you think about others' opinions, no matter where you are in life, you're going to have a problem and you're going to analyze it. I put the blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No."
