AceShowbiz - John Stamos is navigating a wave of criticism following his attendance at a benefit event held at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. The "Full House" actor was quick to take to social media to address the controversy.
The backlash stemmed from Stamos' hosting duty at the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala in support of the Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations (AHNO), a nonpartisan organization that trains hundreds of nurses annually.
Highlighting the essential nature of supporting healthcare workers, Stamos stated, "Supporting nurses isn't political - it's essential. These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every day."
The event, which paired local community figures with professional dancers, aimed to raise funds for the AHNO and featured appearances by "Dancing with the Stars" alums Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff.
Stamos emphasized that his "political views remain unchanged" and encouraged fans to donate to the AHNO to help alleviate the critical shortage of healthcare professionals.
Nonetheless, several fans were dismayed by Stamos' presence at Mar-a-Lago, a property owned by former President Donald Trump. Social media was flooded with reactions, some expressing disappointment and others outright condemning the actor.
One Twitter user exclaimed, "NOOOOOOO UNCLE JESSE. JOHN STAMOS. NO," while another lamented, "John Stamos just ruined his brand forever."
