AceShowbiz - John Stamos, 61, expressed shock and disappointment over the backlash he received for donning a bald cap while supporting his longtime friend and former "Full House" co-star, Dave Coulier, who is undergoing cancer treatment. In an interview at Los Angeles International Airport, Stamos defended his actions, stating that the gesture was intended to express solidarity with Coulier during a difficult time.
Coulier, 65, was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October. On Monday, November 18, both men shared photos of themselves with shaved heads, with Stamos revealing later that he used a bald cap for the photo.
While many praised Stamos's gesture, some criticized him for not actually shaving his head. Coulier responded to the criticism on Instagram, stating that their friendship and humor were their way of coping with the challenging situation.
Stamos explained that he was unable to cut his own hair due to contractual obligations for a new acting project. He emphasized that the underlying message of their actions was to promote early cancer detection and support those undergoing treatment. Stamos expressed frustration over the negative response, stating that his main intention was to support his friend during his journey.
Coulier also defended Stamos's use of a bald cap, saying it brought him laughter and comfort during their visit. The actors have been close friends for decades, co-starring in the family sitcom Full House from 1987 to 1995 and the revival series Fuller House from 2016 to 2020.
