Even though Grey's Anatomy has become a cultural phenomenon, Ellen Pompeo believes some viewers aren't ready for the content - even if they are her own children.

AceShowbiz - Ellen Pompeo, famed for her two-decade portrayal of Dr. Meredith Grey on the hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy", recently shed light on why her 10-year-old daughter, Sienna, isn't ready to watch the series.

Pompeo shared her thoughts during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", noting that while her eldest, 15-year-old Stella Luna, has seen the show, Sienna's time has not yet come.

"My 15-year-old has seen it. And now my 10-year-old wants to see it, which, she's not ready," said Pompeo. "But a lot of kids in her class have seen it."

For Pompeo, the primary concern lies in the content, particularly not wanting her daughter to see her "in [her] underwear on television just yet." With humor, she added, "But all her classmates have. So, that makes for great conversation at pick-up."

Pompeo, who shares her three children with husband Chris Ivery, acknowledged the unique quirks of raising kids in Hollywood. Kimmel recalled how "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston once coached his son's Little League team, highlighting the industry's odd dynamics.

In agreement, Pompeo remarked, "It is a super weird place in that way, but also a really incredible place at the same time because these kids look all around them and they see a bunch of people whose dreams came true. And they believe that their dreams, too, can come true."

Having stepped back as a series regular in February 2023 to spend more time with her family, Pompeo has since viewed some episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" with her children, particularly Stella Luna.

Although she initially found it amazing, Pompeo eventually struggled to rekindle enthusiasm for content she had already lived through.

"At first I was like, 'Oh, this is so amazing, and we're going to watch it together,' " she mentioned. "Then it was episode after episode after episode, and I was like, 'I don't have the stamina for this!' I filmed all these episodes; I can't now go back and watch it again."

Despite her departure from her starring role, Pompeo continues to influence "Grey's Anatomy" as an executive producer and narrator. Her latest venture, the Hulu series "Good American Family", streamable from March 19, marks another chapter in her illustrious career.

Nevertheless, Ellen Pompeo's commitment to her children's well-being and her careful consideration of their media consumption underline her profound role as both a dedicated actress and mother.
