AceShowbiz - Returning to the stage after a two-year hiatus marked by numerous legal battles and personal hardships, Lizzo delivered a powerful performance at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. It was a night filled with emotional revelations, musical triumphs, and a clear message of overcoming adversity.
The singer, known for her hits like "Truth Hurts" and "Good as Hell," revealed to the concert-goers her struggle with deep depression following a series of sexual harassment lawsuits filed by her former employees.
"I was so heartbroken by the world and so deeply hurt that I didn't want to live anymore,” Lizzo admitted during the concert.
The legal battles began in August 2023 when her former backup dancers accused her and her production company of creating a toxic work environment. These allegations were further compounded by claims of racial and sexual harassment from additional former employees.
Despite the dark period, Lizzo recounted a transformative experience during a concert that helped her regain her spirit. “As I was walking through the crowd to get to my spot, something miraculous happened. Somebody, who I didn't know, looked at me and said, 'Lizzo, I love you.' And they reached out, and I reached back, and we hugged, and it felt so damn good," she shared.
This moment of genuine human connection inspired not only her recovery but also the title of her new album, "Love in Real Life."
The album marks Lizzo's return to music after the release of her 2022 album, "Special." The recent concert featured live performances of her two new singles, "Love in Real Life" and "Still Bad," which reflect her journey through pain and triumph. The songs embody themes of survival, love, and resilience, capturing Lizzo's indomitable spirit.
Her concert at the Wiltern was met with thunderous applause and emotional engagement from the audience.
Lizzo expressed her gratitude, saying, "I share that story because I know somebody here tonight is currently going through, or has gone through, depression or darkness or felt so betrayed by someone they trusted or was lied on." She encouraged those facing similar struggles to seek out and cherish real-life connections and support.
With her upcoming shows in New York and Minneapolis and the highly anticipated release of "Love in Real Life," Lizzo is ready to turn her pain into power, celebrating the real-life love and support that brought her back from the brink.
