Rumors are swirling that Margot Robbie might take on the role of the iconic yet tragic figure, Anna Nicole Smith, in an upcoming biopic. But are these whispers based in reality, or is it just wishful thinking from fans?

AceShowbiz - Margot Robbie, known for her compelling performances in films like "I, Tonya" and the recent blockbuster "Barbie", has found herself at the center of rumors regarding a highly-anticipated biopic about Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith.
Fashion designer Pol' Atteu and TV producer Patrik Simpson, who were close friends with Smith, proposed the idea and are eyeing Robbie as their ideal lead, citing her impressive portrayal of "Barbie" as a key factor in their decision.
"After we saw the Barbie movie, Margot was at the screening and I said, 'That's our Anna,' " said Simpson.
Atteu and Simpson have completed the script and are collaborating with Island Illusion Entertainment to bring the project to life. Despite the enthusiasm from Smith's friends and co-creators, the casting still is not set in stone.
Anna Nicole Smith's life story, filled with both promise and tragedy, has already been the subject of multiple film adaptations. Sylvia Hoeks is set to star as Smith in the upcoming film "Hurricana", which is currently in post-production.
Additionally, Abbie Cornish will be portraying Smith in another film based on the book written by the doctor charged with supplying her fatal substances - though he was ultimately acquitted.
Robbie, who recently welcomed her first child in October 2024, has an extensive resume of biographical roles. Her performances in "I, Tonya", "Goodbye Christopher Robin", "Mary, Queen of Scots", and "Bombshell" have all received critical acclaim.
Her role as Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" further demonstrated her ability to bring real-life characters to the silver screen, despite the film's fictionalized elements.
Smith, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 39 due to combined drug intoxication, captured public attention through her modeling career and tumultuous personal life.
Her marriage to oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, their subsequent legal battles, and her struggle with addiction were well-publicized, along with the tragic loss of her son Daniel shortly after the birth of her daughter Dannielynn.
While fans and creators are hopeful, the likelihood of Margot Robbie stepping into Anna Nicole Smith's shoes remains speculative. As more biopics compete in an already saturated market, it remains to be seen if Atteu and Simpson's project will come to fruition with Robbie at the helm.
