The film follows the relationship between AA Milne and his son, which led to the creation of the character who was named after Milne's son Robin's teddy bear. Winnie the Pooh's friend, a young boy named Robin, was modeled after Milne's son. Many of the other characters in the stories are named after his son's toys such as Tigger, Eyeore, and Piglet.
