AceShowbiz - Renowned actor John Goodman, 72, got injured while filming an untitled project fronted by Tom Cruise and directed by the acclaimed Alejandro G. Inarritu in the U.K. Production has been temporarily delayed to give Goodman time to recover.
While Cruise is infamous for enduring on-set injuries due to performing his own stunts -like breaking his ankle during "Mission Impossible: Fallout" in 2018 - this time it was co-star Goodman who suffered a hip injury.
Warner Bros. confirmed the news in a recent statement, "He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John's full recovery."
The details of the incident remain sparse. The Sun reported that Goodman required hospitalization with injuries to his leg and pelvis after an accident at Pinewood Studios.
Tom Cruise is joined by Jesse Plemons, Sandra Huller, and Riz Ahmed in the ensemble cast. According to the synopsis, the plot centers on "the most powerful man in the world" who "causes a disaster and embarks on a mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity."
This new film represents Inarritu's first English-language project since "The Revenant" (2016), which won him his second Best Director Academy Award and Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar as Best Actor.
The celebrated filmmaker also takes on roles as both producer and co-writer for this venture, collaborating with talents such as Sabina Berman and "Birdman" co-writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris.
Goodman's recent career has flourished largely in the television domain, with standout roles in series like "The Conners," "Monsters at Work," "The Freak Brothers," and "The Righteous Gemstones." His extensive filmography includes well-loved titles such as "Monsters Inc.," "Barton Fink," "The Flintstones," "The Big Lebowski," and "The Emperor's New Groove."
Starting production this past November, the project marks Cruise's return to collaborations with Warner Bros., his last being the sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow" over a decade ago.
