Walton Goggins reveals a behind-the-scenes scare with a group of snakes on the set of his TV show 'The White Lotus', during the filming of the third season.

AceShowbiz - Last week's episode of "The White Lotus" was more treacherous behind the scenes than what viewers saw on-screen. Walton Goggins, who stars in the HBO show's third season, had an alarming encounter with his deepest fear - snakes - while filming a particularly intense scene.

The actor, who admitted having a severe phobia, shared his experience on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", describing how his biggest fear became a shocking reality.

Goggins confessed his intense aversion, "I don't just have a phobia - it's like a missing link when it comes to snakes. There's something, like, genetically wrong with me when it comes to snakes."

During the March 2 episode, his character Rick takes drastic measures by opening cages and attempting to release several snakes at a snake farm while in an altered state, leading to a dramatic moment where a snake bites his girlfriend Chelsea, played by Aimee Lou Wood. However, the real-life filming of this scene proved to be far more harrowing than reality TV could script.

The producers and snake handlers identified the poisonous snakes by color and instructed Goggins to avoid these specific reptiles. Yet, things took a dangerous turn when one snake decided not to cooperate.

"As I was pulling the snake out, he didn't want to come, right? And so the snake turns around and he bit me. I haven't told that story to anybody," Goggins recounted to Kimmel.

The immediate aftermath was chaotic and nerve-wracking for the actor. He detailed his unabashed reaction, saying he wishes he "could have been cool" but instead found himself exclaiming, "Oh my God, I've been bit by a snake!"

Showing admirable professionalism, he continued filming for the rest of the day despite the incident. It wasn't until the following day that a producer suggested he visit a hospital, prompting Goggins to respond, "For what? You said the snake was non-venomous, right? Am I dying a slow death?" As a precaution, he ultimately received a shot, ensuring his safety.

Goggins' experience underscores the unpredictable nature of filming and the surprising moments that can occur off-camera. His bravery in confronting his fear -albeit unintentionally - adds a layer of authenticity and excitement to "The White Lotus", a show already known for its drama and unexpected twists.

New episodes drop on Sundays on Max at 9 p.m., promising more thrilling and unpredictable television.
