AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels was apparently fixated on the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. According to former "SNL" cast member Dana Carvey, the legendary TV producer couldn't stop talking about the drama when Carvey texted him after "SNL" 50th anniversary special.
On the "Fly on the Wall" podcast, Carvey recalled congratulating Michaels on the successful anniversary special, only for the veteran producer to respond with an update on the Lively-Baldoni drama following Ryan Reynolds' surprising quip during his cameo.
"Instead of talking about the show, he goes, '[Baldoni] will now countersue. I think that Lively will probably get a new attorney,' " Carvey remembered Michaels' reaction.
An attempt by Carvey to steer the conversation back to the sketch show was unsuccessful. He shared, "And I said, 'But boy, that Tom Hanks was great, and what about that monologue with Steve [Martin]?' And he goes, 'I don't know where Ryan Reynolds is on this but, certainly, they have deep pockets.' "
The legal feud initially began when Blake Lively filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni, the director and her co-star in the 2024 film "It Ends with Us". Lively's accusations also included claims of sexual harassment and a smear campaign against her. In response, Baldoni filed a defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds.
As Lively and Baldoni prepare for their court date set for March 9, 2026, it remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold. Meanwhile, Lorne Michaels and many others continue to keep a keen eye on the developments, illustrating how celebrity feuds can sometimes overshadow even the biggest entertainment events.
