AceShowbiz - Jamie Campbell Bower is praised for his portrayal of Vecna in "Stranger Things," but he wants to take a break from playing villains after the show's upcoming fifth and final season.
While he's grateful for the role, Bower is eager to "hang up the foam latex" and bid farewell to his character. He noted that the extensive makeup process and the intense nature of the role had a significant impact on his psyche.
In a candid interview at MegaCon Orlando, Bower explained that the role was so emotionally taxing that he went to therapy, so he decided to prioritize his mental health and avoid typecasting.
"My therapist and I had a discussion, and he emphasized the need for me to set boundaries for my own well-being," Bower revealed. "I've realized that portraying villains takes a toll on me emotionally, and I need to take some time off from that."
The final season of "Stranger Things" will follow the residents of Hawkins as they confront Vecna and uncover the mysteries of the Upside Down. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have described the season as "big and epic," promising a satisfying conclusion to the beloved series.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, Netflix has teased the new season with a missing person's flyer for Millie Bobby Brown's Jane Hopper (Eleven). The flyer indicates that Eleven went missing in June 1986, just months after the events of the fourth season.
Season 5 is set to take place in the fall of 1987, leaving fans to speculate on the fate of their favorite character.
