Selena Gomez's emotional response to Donald Trump's immigration policies and subsequent mass deportation has drawn criticism from the White House, days after her teary video went viral.

AceShowbiz - In an unfolding drama between pop star Selena Gomez and Donald Trump administration, emotions are running high on both sides. Gomez burst into tears in a Instagram video, feeling saddened by the treatment of immigrants. This prompted a response from the White House.

In a video that has since been deleted due to mixed reactions, Selena sent a heartfelt message lamenting her hopelessness regarding the situation. "I'm so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can't. I don't know what to do," she said amidst tears.

Days later, the White House reacted by releasing a video featuring interviews with three women whose children were allegedly murdered by undocumented immigrants. "[The] courageous mothers had something to say to @SelenaGomez and those who oppose securing our borders," the White House wrote in the caption.

In their interviews, the women questioned Selena's sincerity. One of the women said, "Seeing that video, it's hard to believe it's actually genuine and real because she's an actress," and another commented, "I just feel like it's a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness."

The White House put the interviews along with Selena's teary videos. This move drew criticism including from "Baby Driver" actress Eiza Gonzalez. "What the hell is happening? How is the White House official page posting this? Are you serious?" she commented.

Gomez, who has Mexican American heritage, has been vocal about immigrant rights for years. She produced "Living Undocumented" in 2019, highlighting the plight of immigrant families, and penned an op-ed for Time discussing her own family's immigrant experience.

Despite this, Gomez's advocacy has faced severe backlash from right-wing commentators, including one former Senate candidate who suggested she "should be deported," despite her and her parents' U.S. citizenship.

Selena Gomez hasn't responded to the White House's post.
