Two years after their separation, Sam Asghari reflects on his past relationship with Britney Spears and admits her conservatorship became one of their biggest hurdles.

AceShowbiz - Sam Asghari, who recently starred in season three of "The Traitors", opened up about his seven-year relationship with pop superstar Britney Spears. The couple met in 2016 and got married in June 2022 after her conservatorship ended, only to separate 14 months later.

Despite the split, Asghari has no regrets, showcasing the respect and love he still holds for Spears. In an episode of the podcast "Sibling Revelry" hosted by Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, Ashgari described their time together as a "crash course in Hollywood."

Asghari detailed how he was initially unprepared for the reality of Spears' conservatorship, "I thought I'm in America. What do you mean? What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?"

Asghari, who emigrated from Iran at the age of 12, recalled his shock and confusion over the conservatorship, which had kept Spears under strict control from 2008 until its termination in 2021. Her father, Jamie Spears, was in charge, dictating many aspects of her personal and financial life.

He found the conservatorship to be "the weirdest thing to deal with." Reflecting on the surrealism of it all, Asghari said, "Usually, the people that are around you, the people that you allow into your circle, you kind of are vulnerable to them."

"They take an advantage because they think, you know, you owe something to them or something, which is so ridiculous. That was the most difficult and weird spiral thing that I've witnessed in my life ever."

Nevertheless, Asghari did his best to support Britney during this period, providing information and resources that might help her understand and navigate the situation.

The conservatorship finally ended in November 2021, an event that Britney heralded as "the best day of her life." Yet, the challenges had taken a toll on their relationship. Despite their eventual divorce finalized in May 2024, Asghari retains a positive outlook.

"I'm always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened. It was so much that we gone through so much as a couple. We learned so much and it was a beautiful experience," he said.

Now, as he navigates a new chapter of his life, Asghari aims to stay positive and grounded. "You just got to keep it positive," he told PEOPLE in November 2024. "You got to stay grounded and understand what the truth is and really just live with that rather than other people's opinions or anything like that."

Sam Asghari has since moved on with Brooke Irvine and the couple recently went Instagram official.
