Tim McGraw has stepped down from headlining Netflix's upcoming rodeo series due to health issues that require a surgery and hiatus to allow him to recover properly.

AceShowbiz - Country music legend and actor Tim McGraw has withdrawn from his leading role in Netflix's upcoming bull riding drama. His casting was initially announced at Netflix's upfront presentation in May, but recent developments have prompted the star to step back from the physically demanding role.

According to sources close to the 57-year-old entertainer, McGraw needs to undergo back surgery and a significant break for his recovery. This surgery follows an orthopedic procedure on both of his knees last August, which also led to the cancellation of the remainder of his 2024 tour dates.

McGraw was set to portray a "megastar champion facing a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider whose existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past." The drama was created and written by Brandon Camp, with Taylor Elmore serving as co-showrunner.

As of now, neither Netflix nor Skydance Television, the production company behind the series, has commented on the future of the show.

McGraw's recent screen appearances include starring roles in Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" and its prequel "1883."

While the future of the bull riding drama remains uncertain, McGraw's health and well-being take precedence, ensuring he can continue to entertain audiences in the future. Fans of the star will have to stay tuned to see who will fill his boots in the physically demanding role and how the series will evolve without its original leading man.
