Curiosity erupted among fans when a segment of Seth Rogen's humorous exchange about Ryan Gosling was mysteriously muted during the live broadcast of the Golden Globes. So, what exactly happened?

AceShowbiz - It seemed CBS was determined to be drama-free with its broadcast of 2025 Golden Globe Awards. The network censored part of Seth Rogen's joke when he took the stage to present Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television.
As the actor quipped about Disney and Ryan Gosling, his audio was muted during the live broadcast, leaving audience puzzled.
Along with Catherine O'Hara, his co-star from new TV show "The Studio", Rogen jokingly imagined a fictional Canadian counterpart to the Golden Globes. "What about you and your brave, brave Golden Antler win [for] your turn as young Ryan Gosling in Gosling, the Ryan Gosling unauthorized biopic?" O'Hara teased.
"Thank you. It was unauthorized. And that Mickey Mouse Club handjob scene was very controversial but we felt very important to depict," Rogen replied although he was censored, leaving only the word "controversial" audible.
For those unfamiliar, Ryan Gosling began his career at the age of 13 on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, alongside other soon-to-be stars like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. Despite on the receiving end of the joke, the "Barbie" actor was a no-show at the Golden Globes.
Besides taking aim at his peers, Rogen poked fun at himself, criticizing the unconventional camera angles used during the broadcast and noting how they exposed his bald spot.
Despite being blocked from the live broadcast, the complete version of the joke is available in footage on the Golden Globes' official YouTube channel.
This incident adds to the lore of Golden Globes' anything-goes atmosphere, characterized by drama and viral moments. Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, the night featured a mix of restrained roasting and daring jokes, making it one of the more memorable awards shows in recent history.
