AceShowbiz - Nikki Glaser celebrated a significant milestone by becoming the first woman to host the Golden Globes solo. The next day in an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show, the comedian discussed her hosting experience and revealed how much she was paid for the gig.
The funnywoman dished on she received less money than a previous host, but she didn't mind because she's determined to get hired again and secure a raise next year. "There was a past host who said how much money he got paid in his monologue, and I got less than that, but that's OK. I'll get more next year," said Glaser.
Though she didn't specify the host, Jerrod Carmichael revealed during his 2023 hosting stint that he was paid $500,000. Nonetheless, Glaser felt well-compensated for her efforts. "I feel well paid for what I do - I'm alright. And this first year, when you're just trying to prove yourself, I honestly would've done it for free. It's an insane platform to be on. It's not about the money for me," she added.
Glaser's humor received praise from critics and fans alike, particularly for her 10-minute opening monologue where she roasted celebrities such as Ben Affleck, Timothee Chalamet, Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, P. Diddy and more.
Reflecting on the hard work and dedication required for the role, Glaser acknowledged the challenges but expressed enthusiasm for potentially hosting again. "Who wouldn't do what I did? I don't understand that kind of person. It was hard work I guess, but I had fun doing it. I'm a little exhausted, but I'll miss doing it," she shared.
Glaser also opened up about the unspoken jokes she considered but ultimately decided not to use. "This is the last time all of you will be in the same room together until the Diddy trial," was one such joke. She clarified, "I didn't tell that joke because it's like you're accusing the people of that room of being involved in that, and they might turn on you."
The comedian's historic performance and her reflections on the experience highlighted ongoing conversations about pay equity in the entertainment industry. However, Glaser remains optimistic and enthusiastic about her future in hosting, stating, "I can't imagine they wouldn't [ask me back]."
