AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez may be cooking up a new song after sparking music retirement speculation. The singer/actress is reported to have been working with an Indian artist for an upcoming collaboration to be released in 2025.
Anshul Rajendra Garg, also known as Anshul Garg, teased the alleged new music with Selena during a conversation with Mid-day. He said that the song is "a Hindi and English" fusion track with a music video for the song to be filmed in March 2025.
The music producer and the founder of Play DMF claimed that the song has been locked and he has also decided which Indian singer will render the awaited track. "That's a detail I am not permitted to reveal just yet," he stated.
Gushing about the 32-year-old pop star, Anshul said, "Selena is an icon, and everyone I meet knows who she is. Even in India, she is a celebrated name. She has never come here, though." He noted that there would be more clarity about its release after the music video shooting is completed.
Sharing his collaboration goals, the music producer revealed he has other interesting projects in the works. "Apart from Selena, we are in talks with three to four big artists. In 2025 or 2026, I should be able to bring them to India," the producer mused.
Anshul also spoke about the artists on his collaboration wish list and mentioned Drake and The Weeknd. "Those will be very exciting," he said and hoped to see the musical stars come to India and "sing a line or two" in Hindi.
Following the news about Selena's potential collaboration with Anshul, which he reposted on his Instagram Story, Selenators burst with excitement. "This better be true," a hopeful fan said. A second echoed the sentiment as writing, "I hope it's true we NEEEEEEEEEED new music." A third fan added, "Oh, we are seated can't wait for another banger." Another declared, "Songlena finally returning!!"
Others, however, cast doubt on the claims, with one asking, "Does she know?" Another similarly asked, "Does Selena know that?" Someone else weighed in on the reports, "I don't believe this tbh but I still hope it's true."
Selena's fans understandably rejoiced at the news after she sparked music retirement speculation. Back in January, the former Disney Channel star said, "I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting."
"I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else," she went on sharing. "I don't think I'm the best singer but I do know how to tell stories and I love being able to make songs."
The 32-year-old later clarified in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she has not completely finished with her pop star career. "I think I've done just as much as I wanted to do in music, but it's exciting because I feel like I haven't even started in film and TV," she said in the interview released in November, adding, "I just set it down for a second."
