While Gomez is eager to pursue acting, she emphasized that music is not going away. "I just set it down for a second," she said.

Despite the success of her 2020 album, "Rare," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned her first number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Gomez admitted that she is still exploring her musical direction.

"I think objectively, I would like to say that I am working towards an album, but I don't know if those songs would be on that project," she said.

Gomez has not released a new album since "Rare" but has dropped singles such as "Love On" and "Single Soon."

Despite her focus on acting, which she finds provides her with "sanity," Gomez has not ruled out returning to music in the future.
