The 'Gladiator II' actor has taken on a new role in life, becoming a licensed minister after being baptized at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ in New York City by Archbishop Christopher Bryant.

AceShowbiz - On Saturday, December 21, the 69-year-old "Gladiator II" actor was baptized at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ in New York City by Archbishop Christopher Bryant. During the ceremony, Washington spoke to the congregation about his faith before being immersed in water.

"It took a while, but I'm finally here," he said. "If [God] can do this for me, there's nothing He can't do for you. The sky literally is the limit."

Washington's baptism was celebrated in a post on Facebook by Bryant, who shared photos of the moment and wrote, "We celebrate the addition of Minister Denzel Washington into the clergy."

The "Training Day" star's wife, Pauletta Washington, also spoke during the ceremony, expressing her pride in her husband for taking this step in his spiritual journey.

Washington previously spoke about his faith in an interview with Esquire in November. "When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I've been given by my lord and savior. I'm unafraid," he said. "I don't care what anyone thinks."

He added that religion is often overlooked in Hollywood. "It's not talked about in this town. It's not fashionable. It's not sexy. But that doesn't mean people in Hollywood don't believe."

Washington's baptism comes as no surprise, as he has previously spoken about a significant spiritual experience he had as a child. According to Washington, a woman named Ruth Green approached him and said, "Boy, you are going to travel the world and preach to millions of people."

Washington is currently in theaters in "Gladiator II" and will appear in the upcoming film "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". His new role as a minister is a testament to his faith and his commitment to sharing his message with the world.
