AceShowbiz - In the special Christmas episode of Apple TV+'s "Carpool Karaoke," singer Chappell Roan was joined by her parents, Dwight and Kara Amstutz, for a heartwarming rendition of her hit song "Pink Pony Club".
The performance proved especially meaningful for Dwight, who wiped away tears as the family sang the lyrics "don't think I've left you all behind." The song, a semi-autobiographical anthem about embracing one's true self, resonated deeply with both parents.
"I hope she always knows that we love her so much and could never not be proud of her," Dwight said, overcome with emotion. "She has taught me respect for others and all people. Everything about her is about loving everybody."
Kara also shared her pride and affection for her daughter, noting how much she enjoys singing "Pink Pony Club" at Roan's shows. "We love what she does, who she is, and what she stands for," she said.
Roan, who left her small Southern town and religious upbringing for California, admitted that her religious background had once caused her to feel ashamed. "I couldn't handle feeling ashamed anymore," she said.
The episode showcased Roan's close bond with her parents and their unwavering support for her journey of self-discovery. Roan's debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," and her single "Good Luck, Babe!" have earned her six 2025 Grammy nominations, including in the "big four" categories.
