AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures will release Emerald Fennell's "Wuthering Heights" adaptation on February 13, 2026. Fennell serves as the writer, director, and producer of the film, which stars Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. Additional cast members include Hong Chau, Alison Oliver and Shazad Latif. MRC and Robbie's LuckyChap banner also produce the project.
The adaptation sparked a heated bidding war among streaming platforms and studios. Netflix reportedly offered a staggering $150 million for the film's rights, but Warner Bros. ultimately secured the project for $80 million.
Fennell's vision for "Wuthering Heights" aligns with her affinity for the gothic genre. In a 2024 op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, she expressed her fascination with the genre's blend of comedy, horror, and eroticism.
The film will hit theaters alongside an untitled Marvel feature and "Scream 7" in February 2026. Despite facing competition from other female-demo movies, "Wuthering Heights" is expected to be a significant draw for its target audience.
Warner Bros. and MRC's acquisition of the film reflects their commitment to theatrical releases and the strength of Fennell's talent. Top talent will reportedly receive a substantial backend participation tied to the film's box office performance.
