AceShowbiz - In anticipation of their upcoming panel at CCXP in Brazil, Lionsgate has unveiled a brand-new poster for "Ballerina," their highly anticipated John Wick" spin-off. The poster showcases Ana De Armas ("No Time to Die") in the titular role as Eve Macarro.
The poster reveals an enigmatic image of De Armas with her back turned, holding a gun. Prominently featured on her back is the tattoo "Lux in Tenebris," a Latin phrase meaning "light in darkness." This symbol hints at Eve's transformation into a deadly assassin after witnessing her father's murder.
Previous trailers for "Ballerina" have hinted at the film's adherence to the signature gun-fu style of the John Wick franchise. De Armas' character will undergo intense training, learning to adapt, improvise, and even resort to trickery to subdue her opponents.
Joining De Armas in the cast are Norman Reedus ("The Walking Dead"), Catalina Sandino Moreno ("From"), Gabriel Byrne ("Hereditary"), David Castaneda ("The Umbrella Academy"), Anne Parillaud ("Nikita"), Sharon Duncan-Brewster ("Dune: Part One"), Ian McShane ("American Gods"), Anjelica Huston ("Smash"), and the late Lance Reddick ("Fringe"). Keanu Reeves himself is set to make a cameo appearance as John Wick.
Set between the events of "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum" and "John Wick: Chapter 4," "Ballerina" follows Eve Macarro's journey through the world of assassins. Despite Reeves' limited screen time, trailers suggest that De Armas is more than capable of carrying this branch of the franchise on her own.
"Ballerina" is directed by Len Wiseman ("Underworld") and written by Shay Hatten, Rebecca Angelo, Lauren Schuker Blum, Emerald Fennell, Michael Finch, and Wiseman. The film is produced by Keanu Reeves, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski.
"Ballerina" is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on June 6, 2025.
