AceShowbiz - Flavor Flav may be one of hip-hop maestros, but not everybody apparently recognize him or influence. The rapper has claimed he got kicked out of Backstreet Boys' dressing room when attending NBC's yearly Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting.
On Wednesday night, December 4, the 65-year-old took to social media to express his dismay at the situation. "I feel weird,,,I was invited to the rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys,,, THE BACKSTREET BOYS,,, and we were backstage in their dressing room,,,security came up tp me and says @nbc does not want me in this area and I need to leave," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Further baffling the Public Enemy founding member, he claimed, "At the same time,,, their social media woman came up and asked me to capture social content." He demanded an explanation, "What did I ever do to NBC or anyone,,?? All I ever do is try to spread joy and love,,, and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics."
Flavor did not detail why he got kicked out of the dressing room, but he has defended BSB, whom he said was speaking up for him during the incident. "I'm so sorry that happened to you. @nbc was wrong for that and your Boys (Backstreet Boys) should have spoken up," someone expressed their sympathy, to which the Roosevelt native replied, "They spoke up for me,,, they sure did."
Flavor has since deleted his initial tweet that alleged the mistreatment. "I deleted the tweet,,, but my spirit is broken," he wrote in another post.
Despite getting his spirit "broken," Flavor, whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., appears to have had a blast at the tree lightning ceremony. He later posted a video of him joining the crowd during the countdown.
"3, 2, 1, beam!" he shouted as the tree shone in colorful lights. "Rockefeller Center is lit! Flavor, Flavor in the building! Lighten up Rockefeller Center, baby. Yeah boy!" He captioned the clip, "Christmas in the city,,, ain't nothing like the Rockefeller tree lighting."
Neither BSB nor NBC has responded to Flavor's tweets.
