AceShowbiz - In an interview, Metro Boomin and Future delve into their collaborative albums, creative processes, and the highly publicized feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Metro Boomin, whose collaboration with Lamar on the track "Like That" sparked the controversy, opened up about the personal nature of his own issues with the Toronto rapper.
"Me and [Drake], we had a personal issue, and for the record, not over no girl or nothing silly like that," Metro told GQ's senior editor Frazier Tharpe. "It was a personal issue that really hurt me and disappointed me."
Metro emphasized that the disagreement between them was not uncommon, despite the public nature of their status. "It happens every day. It's just regular s**t. This just happens to have an audience."
However, Metro rejected the idea that he orchestrated his albums with Future to target Drake. "People really think we sat for two years, making two albums [to be] like, 'Yo, f**k this dude,' " he said. "You really think we are going to spend that much time, effort, resources on just trying to get at somebody on an album?"
In a moment of introspection, Metro expressed regret over his online attacks on Drake. "I should have been stronger than that. That was out of character for me. But at a certain point, it's like, I don't rap, bro, so you're going to just s**t on me on all of these songs. I'm not going to get in the booth, so I'm finna tweet at you."
