AceShowbiz - Actor Sean Hayes recently opened up about a dramatic night involving two emergency room visits and heart issues, all while keeping it from his husband. During a recent episode of the "[SmartLess]" podcast with guest Hugh Grant, Hayes' co-host revealed the "Will & Grace" actor's harrowing night involving multiple trips to the emergency room.
What started as a discussion about jet lag quickly turned into a shocking healthcare revelation about Hayes' battle with heart issues. Hugh Grant, 64, shared his experience with the debilitating effects of long transatlantic flights, noting that age has made it more challenging. "I woke up hours ago very, very hungry and felt like my heart is made of Play-Doh," Grant quipped.
Hayes' co-host, Will Arnett, quickly drew connection to Hayes's recent health scare. "Hugh, you should know this, that Sean, two [or] three nights ago, woke up in the middle of the night with a heart issue," Arnett said.
When it happened, Hayes didn't even wake up his husband, Scott Icenogle. Instead, he drove himself to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center not once, but twice in one night.
Arnett added, "They brought the paddles out, they put him under, they paddled him, he drove home… An hour later, he woke up to use the bathroom again and drove himself back to Cedars and got paddled again."
Hayes, 54, has previously discussed his condition, atrial fibrillation, which causes an irregular heart rhythm and can result in symptoms like fatigue, heart palpitations, trouble breathing, and dizziness. He humored the audience on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" by saying, "I'm like Norm from Cheers … because I'm in there all the time," referencing the countless visits he's made to the ER. Despite the ordeal, Hayes managed to go out to dinner that same night.
After Arnett's revelation, he humorously reassured Grant regarding his jet lag struggles, saying, "So your jet leg by comparison," to which Grant felt "humiliated" yet conceded the nightmarish experience of Hayes.
