AceShowbiz - Sylvester Stallone, 78, set the stage at Donald Trump's star-studded event with a speech full of vivid imagery and historical comparisons. He described the iconic opening scene of "Rocky," where the camera pans from a mural of Jesus inside an old church converted into a boxing gym to Rocky Balboa taking a punch, to heap praise on the President-elect.
"When I did Rocky, if you remember, the first image was a picture of Jesus, and it says, 'Resurrection AC' [on the wall]. I found a church that had been converted to a boxing ring. The image pans down from Jesus onto Rocky being hit, and at that moment, he was the chosen person," Stallone elaborated during the America First Policy Institute Gala at Mar-a-Lago.
He drew a parallel to Trump, stating, "That's how I began the journey, something was going to happen, this man was going to go through a metamorphosis and change lives - just like President Trump."
Amid applause and cheers from the attendees, which included notable figures like Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Elon Musk, Stallone continued to weave a narrative that likened Trump's journey to the historic feats of America's founding heroes.
"This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could've pulled off what we pulled off, so I'm in awe," Stallone expressed. He didn't stop there. Drawing on the American Revolution, he proclaimed, "When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world, because without him, you could imagine what the world would look like?" He declared, "Guess what? We've got the second George Washington."
Stallone's relationship with Trump, reportedly close enough that he was once considered for the position of chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, was evident in his emotional commendation.
A 2016 interview with Variety further highlights Stallone's nuanced appreciation for Trump. "I love Donald Trump. He's a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean? There are certain people like Arnold, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don't know how that translates to running the world," he said at the time.
The event was not just about speeches. Besides Stallone, Trump himself delivered an address, flanked by his trusted supporters and announced cabinet members.
In a world where celebrity endorsements often make headline news, Stallone's impassioned tribute to Trump at Mar-a-Lago certainly made an indelible mark, invoking the legacies of historical giants and mythical figures alike.
