HBO executive Casey Bloys discusses the creative relationship between the network and Martin amidst concerns raised by the fantasy author about the 'House of the Dragon' spin-off series.

AceShowbiz - HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys has addressed concerns raised by best-selling fantasy author George R.R. Martin about the "House of the Dragon" spin=off series.

Bloys stated that "George and 'Game of Thrones' really changed the course of HBO" and expressed his appreciation for Martin's contributions. However, he acknowledged that creative collaborations can be challenging, particularly when adapting established source material.

"When [showrunner Ryan Condal] is making creative decisions adapting work, it can be fraught," Bloys said. "And like any marriage, sometimes it gets rocky."

In September, Martin expressed disappointment on his blog about changes made to the source material for "House of the Dragon", specifically the omission of Prince Maelor Targaryen. He also hinted at potential consequences for future seasons.

However, Bloys emphasized that HBO and Martin are not parting ways. Multiple "Game of Thrones" spin-off projects are in development, including a movie that is in early stages.

"I think it could be fun and interesting," Bloys said of the potential movie. "That's the point of development: You see, is there a story that's worthy of being in theaters and a big spectacle?"

Meanwhile, Bloys confirmed that another "Game of Thrones" spin-off, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", is scheduled to premiere next winter.
