Chad broke his silence in a post on his Instagram Stories on Sunday. He simply wrote, "SMR [lock emoji]," with a black background.
While Chad didn't offer much context in the post, fans believed that SMR referred to the "Selling Tampa" alum's initials. "SMR is her initials yall. Lol gahlee," one Instagram user wrote under Hollywood Unlocked's post about the matter.
"He's telling her she's locked in…. welcome to Death Row," someone joked. Another similarly said, "I think he saying' don't believe the hype, she aint going nowhere.' "
Sharelle shocked fans when she took to her X account to reveal that she and Chad had broken off their engagement. "Chad and I are no longer together please stop tagging us. He is a free man ladies," the 37-year-old wrote on the platform, formerly known as Twitter.
Chad, meanwhile, responded to his ex’s statement with a gif of "Arrested Development" character George Michael walking with his head down.
The former wide receiver additionally posted a photo of a stick figure with its arms out and a message that read, "I love you this much."
Their split came after the couple announced their engagement in January 2023, a year after they welcomed a daughter named Serenity. In their sweet proposal, Chad allegedly getting down on one knee with a 7.5-carat ring while they were at Bar One in Miami.
"I'm honestly shocked! I'm at a loss for words," the real estate agent told PEOPLE at the time. "This was absolutely beautiful and to see my family and friends here to celebrate our love, that really did it for me."
