In an interview with "Impact x Nightline: One Direction: Liam Payne's Final Days," the tourist described Payne's erratic behavior, mentioning that the star was visibly frustrated and even smashed his laptop in the lobby.

"There was an incident where he was very frustrated and was smashing his laptop in the lobby, and then the final time he came down, he actually passed out in the lobby of the hotel," the hotel guest recounted.

Another guest, Rebecca, also spoke of witnessing Payne's bizarre behavior. She detailed a disturbing incident where he pretended to choke a woman who seemed to be accompanying him. Rebecca added that Payne caused such a commotion that he had to be escorted back to his room by hotel staff multiple times.

Amid the chaos, Esteban, the hotel's manager, placed a frantic call to 911. He expressed concerns for Payne's safety, noting, "We have a guest who is [allegedly] high and drunk; and when he is conscious, he is destroying his room and we need you to send someone, please." Esteban also mentioned his fears that Payne might endanger his own life due to the room's balcony.

Tragically, those fears were realized when Payne fell from his third-story balcony, suffering a fractured skull and dying on impact. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was the multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding sustained from the fall.

A toxicology report later revealed that Payne had several drugs in his system, such as cocaine, crack, the depressant benzodiazepine, and pink cocaine - a mix of meth, ecstasy, and other substances. Authorities suspect that a hotel employee might have supplied these drugs, possibly hidden in a Dove soap box found among other drug paraphernalia in Payne's room.

Investigation details indicate Payne was alone in his room at the time of his death. Two women, believed to be sex workers, testified under oath that they only consumed alcohol with Payne and did not partake in any drug activities.

As the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office in Argentina continues the investigation, it's been noted that Payne had no defensive injuries, suggesting he was likely unconscious when the fatal fall occurred.
