"I've only met him a few times," Downey remarked. "As an almost 60-year-old recovering white American male, I just wish that he would control his behavior a little more, but that's not on me. I know that this idea of 'It's all okay 'cause we've gotta get to Mars' doesn't really hold water with me. But again, you know, you have to look at all that he's done that demonstrates why he's valuable."

Mark Fergus, the screenwriter for "Iron Man," elaborated in 2022 that the cinematic version of Tony Stark was an amalgamation of Musk, Donald Trump, and Steve Jobs. Fergus envisioned Stark as if "Musk took the brilliance of Jobs with the showmanship of Trump, adding, "He was the only one who had the fun factor and the celebrity vibe and actual business substance." Perhaps, this blend is why Musk was seen as a real-life counterpart to the fictional Stark.

Musk, with his impressive resume as the CEO of Tesla, founder of SpaceX, and current owner of X, remains a polarizing figure. While his contributions to technology and space exploration have earned him accolades, his public persona and support for Trump draw criticism, even from Hollywood elites.

Michael Keaton, for instance, has openly criticized Musk alongside Trump, suggesting their supporters are misguided in their hero worship.

Whether Musk truly fits the Tony Stark mold is subjective, but his influence and innovation are undeniable. With a biopic based on Walter Isaacson's authorized biography of Musk in development by A24 and director Darren Aronofsky, the world might soon see more of Musk's story unfold on the big screen.

Interestingly, Variety listed Downey Jr. as a potential actor capable of bringing Musk's character to life, bridging the gap between his iconic portrayal of Stark and the man who inspired it.
