AceShowbiz - Robert Downey Jr.'s mentorship has left a lasting impression on Tom Holland, as revealed by the actor during an interview on the "Rich Roll" podcast. During their first day filming "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016, Holland's audition scene had been significantly cut down. However, Downey Jr. intervened, advocating for the full audition scene to be shot.
"Downey was like, 'No, no, no. You're going to want to spend some time on this. Let's shoot the whole thing from the audition. You can always cut it, but you'd want to have it,' " Holland recalled. Downey Jr.'s insistence resulted in the entire scene being used in the final film.
Holland expressed his gratitude to Downey Jr., stating, "I owe that to him." He added that he aspires to provide similar support to young actors in the future, particularly in bringing Miles Morales into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Beyond his role in "Civil War", Holland has starred in several successful "Spider-Man" films, including "Spider-Man: Homecoming", "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home". He recently shared an update on the fourth installment of his Spider-Man franchise, revealing a promising creative process and a shared enthusiasm from himself and Zendaya Coleman.
"Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, this is a real movie worthy of the fans' respect," Holland said. He emphasized the importance of delivering a high-quality film that honors the expectations of Spider-Man fans.
