AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey has broken her silence on the alleged Grammys snubs that she's been getting throughout her career. During her appearance in the latest episode of "Las Culturistas" podcast, the diva addressed winning only five Grammys despite her decades-long career.
In the episode, hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers said that the "Reflection" singer doesn't "have enough" Grammy wins. Mariah agreed with the statement, saying, "They scaaaaammed me. They toy with me."
Mariah has racked up a whopping 34 Grammy nominations and first won Grammys back in 1991. At the time, she took home the trophies for Best New Artist and Best Pop Female Vocal Performance for "Vision Of Love".
Later in 2006, Mimi won Best Contemporary R&B Album, thanks to her album "Emancipation of Mimi". She additionally was named as the winner of Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the track "We Belong Together" in the same year.
Mariah, however, got a Grammy nomination for the last time in 2009. Her song "I Understood", which features Kim Burrell, Rance Allen and Bebe Winans, earned her a nod in Best Gospel Performance category.
This wasn't the first time for Mariah to shade Grammys for the snubs. She previously took aim at the Recording Academy when she was honored with Recording Academy's Global Impact Award at the 2024 Black Music Collective event, which took place on February 1.
"Is this a real Grammy? I haven't seen one in soooooo long," the pop star said during her speech. "It's weird. I don't know. We'll figure out what this is later."
She added, "I accept this award on behalf of every person who has ever felt silenced or marginalized, who has ever been told their voice doesn't matter. Your truth matters. We will continue to pave the way together for a future where authenticity is celebrated, diversity is embraced, and music has the power to change the world.”
