The Oscar-winning actress will be honored with the Maltin Modern Master Award at the 40th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival for her significant contributions and impact on the film industry.

AceShowbiz - The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) has announced that Oscar-winning actress and filmmaker Angelina Jolie will be presented with the prestigious Maltin Modern Master Award at the festival's 40th anniversary edition on February 5, 2025.
Established in 1995 and renamed the Maltin Modern Master Award in 2015 in honor of longtime SBIFF moderator and film critic Leonard Maltin, the award recognizes filmmakers for their exceptional contributions to the art of filmmaking.
"Angelina Jolie makes bold choices, both as an actress and as a director," Maltin said. "She sets the bar high in both disciplines and always comes through. I look forward to reviewing her career with her in Santa Barbara."
Jolie's illustrious career has spanned a wide range of roles, including critically acclaimed performances in "Girl, Interrupted", "A Mighty Heart" and "Changeling". She has also starred in blockbusters such as "Gone in 60 Seconds", "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", "Salt" and "Maleficent".
Jolie has also directed several films, including "In the Land of Blood and Honey", "Unbroken", "By the Sea" and "First They Killed My Father". Her latest directorial venture "Without Blood" is currently in production.
Past recipients of the Modern Master Award include Jamie Lee Curtis, Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Robert Downey Jr., Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood and Peter Jackson.
The 40th annual SBIFF will take place from February 4-15, 2025. The festival will feature a variety of events, including screenings, filmmaker Q&As, celebrity tributes and industry panels. Passes for SBIFF 2025 can be purchased on the organization's website.
