John Mulaney, who's married to actress Olivia munn, is officially announced to host a live weekly variety talk show on the streaming giant, Netflix, starting early 2025.

AceShowbiz - John Mulaney is no stranger to Netflix audiences. Following the success of his experimental live comedy series, "Everybody's in L.A.," Mulaney will take center stage once again, offering fans a unique blend of comedy, entertainment, and unpredictability on a weekly basis.
Reflecting on Mulaney's previous work, Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria expressed her enthusiasm. "I'm really excited about it," she said. "John Mulaney, hello. We have a long relationship with John, obviously, and we have done his stand-up specials and during Netflix Is a Joke Festival he did a live talk show called 'Everybody's in L.A.' and it was just so bold and original and fresh and then unpredictable. And I think it'll be really fun to get to do a live show with him."
While specifics about the upcoming show remain under wraps, what is known is that Mulaney will serve not only as the host but also as the co-showrunner and executive producer through his Multiple Camera Productions.
His previous Netflix work includes celebrated stand-up specials such as "John Mulaney: Baby J" (2023) and "Kid Gorgeous" (2018), both of which earned Emmy awards, as well as "The Comeback Kid" (2015) and the variety special "John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch" (2019).
Despite the mixed success of previous talk-show ventures on Netflix, Bajaria emphasized the importance of taking risks. "Now, if we build a weekly live talk/variety, what does that look like? I think the live will be interesting to see. Also, he's just wildly talented and really creative," she explained.
This move aligns with Netflix's broader strategy to push boundaries and diversify their live content offerings, which already include live sporting events, comedy specials, and other live entertainment.
Mulaney's return comes at a time when live programming is becoming a pivotal part of Netflix's content strategy. The streaming giant is currently in talks to bring live versions of popular shows like "Hot Ones" and has already expanded into areas like live wrestling and NFL games on Christmas Day.
In addition to his Netflix endeavors, Mulaney will also host "Saturday Night Live" in November and is set to star on Broadway in "All In: Comedy About Love" by Simon Rich in December. Fans of John Mulaney have much to look forward to in the coming year, as his multifaceted career continues to shine on multiple platforms.
