Jennifer Lopez defied warnings that her 'American Idol' role would jeopardize her movie career, trusting her intuition and sharing her knowledge with aspiring singers.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez, now 55, faced skepticism and warnings from her team against joining "American Idol" as a judge from 2011 to 2016. They cautioned that it could diminish her credibility and limit her opportunities in the film industry.

However, Lopez, driven by her passion for music and mentorship, disregarded the advice. She felt she had something unique to offer the series and believed in her ability to transcend any perceived limitations.

"I'll do things that could be risky because I believe they're going to turn out okay," she explained to Nikki Glaser in an Interview magazine conversation. "I love music and I love mentoring people, and I wanted to share what I know about the business."

Lopez admitted that at the time, reality TV was looked down upon, but she saw it as an opportunity to connect with a different audience and make a positive impact.

Her decision proved successful. Lopez's stint on "American Idol" sparked a career resurgence, coinciding with the release of her hit single "On the Floor" and her role in the police drama "Shades of Blue".

She went on to judge NBC's "World of Dance" and star in the critically acclaimed film "Hustlers", earning Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

While trusting her intuition, Lopez also declined other job offers that didn't align with her values. She turned down lucrative commercial opportunities, explaining, "I can't do that. I don't think it's the right thing to do."

Lopez's willingness to take risks and forge her own path has fueled her success. She emphasizes the importance of listening to one's gut and not allowing others to dictate one's choices, even in the face of resistance.
